VAG Replacement Keys

Replacement Keys & Key Programming

In recent years, most modern vehicles, including all of those in the Volkswagen stable, have seen dramatic improvements in their standard anti-theft devices such as alarms, central locking, engine immobilisers and remote access key systems.

Whilst this is great news for owners, it adds complexity to the key supply and offers potential problems (and costs) when keys are lost, damaged or stolen which, no matter how careful you are, may well happen to many of us.

"Key Programming" for a Volkswagen is the process of adding a new key to the security system of your VW car and, no matter what you read online, this is far from a simple DIY process and has a number steps to ensure that the new key works properly and security of your car is maintained.

Until recently, drivers of Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda vehicles have been forced to go to their main dealer when they need a new key for their car. This was slow (often requiring half a day at the dealers) and expensive (we have had reports of well over £400 being charged for a new key when programming is added) but this is no longer the case if you visit Green Garage.

We have invested in systems required to re-program your keys and to add new keys to your car.

If you end up with a broken or lost key and want to source a replacement then get in touch with us and we can discuss the most appropriate way forward for you. We will ensure we get the right parts for you and can then program your new key to your car quickly when you come in.

Important Note about Buying Key Parts Online:
There are very many similar looking key fob parts for your VAG vehicle available online.  These are often poor quality Chinese copies and we strongly recommend you do not buy them unless you are 100% sure it is the right part and you have spoken to us first. We can tell you what part number is required and give you an estimate for the cost of the part - this way you will not waste your time or money.
